Welcome to my Lair—I’m Autumnelf (they/them). Deaf, autistic, nonbinary, and undeniably dramatic with a love for cosplay (as shown above), musical theater, orcas and sea life, and gaming. I have way too many fandoms to list and our game collection spans over 250 tabletop games and counting!
I grew up a thespian. Over the years, I have played Christine in “Phantom of the Opera”, Jemima (now often renamed Sillabub) in “Cats”, Eponine in “Les Miserables”, and Maggie Winslow in “A Chorus Line”. My range is G3 to E6 and I do sing daily. While I no longer act professionally, cosplay keeps that acting spark alive. I even get to be Erik from the “Phantom of the Opera”. Talk about full-circle!
I discovered orcas at a science toy shop. They were in the plushie section at the front in between the dolphins and the sharks. I was obsessed with dolphins, especially the bottlenose dolphins, and wanted to swim with them in Florida, US. As a small child of 3 years old, I inspected this new creature with curious fascination. It looked like a cross between a whale and a dolphin. The sales agent walked up to me and asked if I knew what it was. “Yes!” I replied confidently. “It’s a Whalephin!” She laughed and told me that was the first time she had ever heard it called that, but gently corrected me and told me it was a killer whale, otherwise known as an orca. She actually gave me that plushie for free, and that was all it took. I went home and obsessively learned every detail I could learn about them, and every day, I still learn more. They are my biggest autistic special interest and I infodump about them to pretty much anyone who will listen.
I have always loved games. My favorites are the Realms of Armistace, Cribbage, Anima and Forbidden Island. I do enjoy Forbidden Desert also, but Forbidden Sky is just a touch too difficult for us to play. Also good is Arkham Horror. It’s funny because the first time me and my partner played it together, it was my first time playing it, and he told me to draw the boss card- and I drew Cthulu. My partner asked me if I wanted to still play knowing we would probably not win, but I was committed and we lost- horribly! Yet, it was fun and so we got the game anyways. As a side note, my partner was also the one that taught me Cribbage and Magic: The Gathering. He tried to teach me Pokemon as well, but did I catch them all? Not a chance!
