Welcome to the Lair!
I’m Autumnelf (they/them). I am a Deaf, autistic, non-binary, and undeniably dramatic professional content creator, blogger, and published author.
My world revolves around cosplay, musical theater, marine life, and gaming. I have way too many fandoms to list, and our home collection spans over 250 tabletop games and counting!
Musical Theater & Cosplay
I grew up a thespian. Over the years, I have played Christine in Phantom of the Opera, Jemima (Sillabub) in Cats, Eponine in Les Miserables, and Maggie Winslow in A Chorus Line. My vocal range is G3 to E6, and I still sing daily. While I no longer act professionally, cosplay keeps that creative spark alive—including getting to step into the role of Erik from Phantom of the Opera. Talk about full-circle!
The Origin of My Orca Obsession
I discovered orcas at a science toy shop when I was three years old. Tucked into the plushie section between the dolphins and sharks, I inspected this striking creature with curious fascination. To me, it looked like a cross between a whale and a dolphin.
When the sales clerk asked if I knew what it was, I confidently replied, “Yes! It’s a Whalephin!”
She laughed, noting she had never heard them called that before, and gently explained it was a killer whale—otherwise known as an orca. She let me keep that plushie for free, and that was all it took. I went home and obsessively studied every detail I could find. Decades later, marine biology and orcas remain my deepest autistic special interest, and this platform is where I get to share that passion with the world.
Tabletop & Video Gaming
I have always loved games. My absolute favorites are Realms of Armistace, Cribbage, Anima, and Forbidden Island. While I enjoy Forbidden Desert, Forbidden Sky is just a touch too difficult for our table!
I am also a massive fan of Arkham Horror. The very first time my partner and I played, he had me draw the boss card, and I pulled Cthulhu. He asked if I still wanted to play knowing we would almost certainly lose. I was fully committed, and we lost horribly—but it was incredibly fun, and we bought the game immediately. My partner is also the one who taught me Cribbage and Magic: The Gathering. He tried to teach me Pokémon as well, but did I catch them all? Not a chance!
On the digital side, I’m a lifelong gamer at heart, with a particular soft spot for Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF), which I enjoy playing on both PC and Switch. My gaming tastes are all over the map in the best possible way! Some days, you’ll find me unwinding with the cozy charm of Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, or Hokko Life. Other times, I’m diving into the nostalgia of Diablo II and RuneScape, or revisiting the worlds of RIFT and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. I also love games that are a little strange, unsettling, or delightfully unexpected, like The Stanley Parable, Summer of ’58, Daemonologie, and Untitled Goose Game. Whether I’m tending a virtual farm, exploring an expansive fantasy world, or getting spooked by something lurking in the dark, I love games that offer a memorable experience, a world to get lost in, or a story that sticks with me long after I’ve finished playing.
